Part 1 - Sparks of Darkness-27Senko watched the faces of the five Lytuis he knew Jason, Dawn, Sam, Shea, and Kye. Fortunately, they had all survived the battle. With each new body that was brought to the funeral pyre Vylnhon, Lytuis, or slave their expressions grew bleaker, and as the pile grew before their eyes, tears streaked the faces of many of the survivors. Several cut the collars from the necks of the slaves, both living and dead. "If they die, they should at least die free," Jason murmured when Kiera asked him about it. Part 1 - Sparks of Darkness-26Hours later, Shuriken crept out from underneath the ruins of the north wall. When he saw all that remained of his once-prosperous slave market, he swore softly. Flames leaped high into the dark, red-tinged sky, burning anything they could and blackening everything else. Cage fragments were strewn haphazardly over the ground. Some of the bars had evidently been used as weapons, impaling the guards who had fought the slaves. Rubble from the shattered walls had crushed Vylnhon and Lytuis alike who had simply been in the wrong place at the wrong time. Part 1 - Sparks of Darkness-25Sam was about to shoot one of the guards, completely ignoring the patrons fleeing for their lives, when a young male Lytuis wearing an orange collar slammed trough his cage and felled the guard with a well-placed stab from the guard's own dagger. Not a fatal wound, but almost. Shocked, Sam pulled up about twenty feet. Sure enough, similar situations were occurring everywhere as slaves somehow broke the bars holding them prisoner. The guards fought them and the Lytuis with a manic ferocity born of desperation their lives depended on the outcome.Part 1 - Sparks of Darkness-25
